Our founder had an exciting week in Mallorca!
We asked her to share a few thoughts about her favorite island!
Summer in Mallorca is magical. I’ve spent over 20 years here, coming on and off throughout the seasons, creating a beautiful retreat with my husband and children.
It’s official! Celia’s an Ambassador of Mallorca
This month, I was honored to receive the “Mallorquines Del Verano” from the Hotel Valparaiso, an award which recognizes people who are not born in Mallorca, have a residence here and are ambassadors of the island. Past winners of the 5-Star hotel’s award include actor Michael Douglas and former US Ambassador to Spain, James Costos.
How Celia ended up in Mallorca
We came to visit some friends and then Francesco (Celia’s husband, Publisher of Vendome Press) decided to make a book on iconic Mallorcan houses—that was the beginning of our love affair with Mallorca. It was cloudy and he couldn’t take any photographs one day so we went what I call “window shopping” for properties, and we found our property and slowly started working on it. A few years later we stopped going to Ibiza and moved to Mallorca. We were ready for a change of holiday lifestyle, a beautiful place for our kids to grow up and explore.
What she loves most about the island
I feel really calm here. We’re in the middle of nowhere, we have mountains, countryside and sea all at once. As well, I love the scale of the island! It’s doesn’t shut off in the winter, there are theaters and universities, a year-round culture that I thrive on. Ibiza was so crowded in the summer and after the summer, nothing. I feel safe, calm, Mallorca inspires me, it’s the perfect place to work and relax, it has it all.
